Itinerary: Avignon - Papal Palace (entry) - Avignon City Walls (outside) - Lake Geneva - Fountain - Flower Clock - United Nations Headquarters (outside) - Broken Leg Wooden Chair (outside) - Geneva
After breakfast, proceed to【Papal Palace】, located on the banks of the Rhone River in Avignon, is the largest medieval Gothic building in Europe. It is precisely because of its existence that Avignon became a religious capital. From the high point of the Palace, you can see the entire ancient city.
Appearance [Remparts d'Avignon] is an ancient fortification surrounding the old city of Avignon, with a circumference of 4,300 meters. It was built by the Pope in the 14th century and renovated in the 19th century. The traces of rain erosion on the wall highlight its vicissitudes. It passes by the Papal Palace, St. Benezer Bridge and other places. The walls of Avignon are still well preserved and are listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The Broken Bridge, also known as Pont St-Bénézet, is a famous bridge in the 12th century that spans the Rhone River and leads to King Philippe's Castle on the other side.
Afterwards, take the high-speed train to Geneva, a large city in the French-speaking region of Switzerland located in the hinterland of the Alps. Geneva is located on the southwest shore of Lake Geneva in Switzerland and is surrounded by the mountains of France. Upon arrival, visit Europe's largest lake - Lake Geneva, see the world's tallest artificial fountain, which is more than 100 meters high, and admire the Flower Clock and United Nations European Headquarters in the English Park on the shores of Lake Geneva. The Broken Chair was built in the square in front of the Palais des Nations. It is a sculpture by Geneva artist Daniel Bossert. It was established in 1997 for the International Disabled Persons' Federation to call attention to the harm caused by landmines to civilians in war. Although this 12-meter-tall, 5-ton sculpture is just an "attraction" when visiting here, it has a special meaning. There is no text description around the sculpture, but the incomplete chair legs undoubtedly symbolize the limbs lost by human beings due to landmine explosions, leaving people with thoughts about war and peace. After the tour, check into the hotel and rest.
